Optical Sapphire components

Synthetic sapphire is a monocrystalline aluminium oxide with outstanding technical properties

  • extreme hardness and high scratch resistance
  • chemical stability and inertness
  • extreme thermal stability
  • outstanding transmission between 200 and 5000 nm

Applications:
The outstanding characteristics of sapphire windows make them ideal for use as

  • endoscope windows
  • high-pressure windows
  • sensor windows in IR applications
  • windows in high-temperature conditions

and in spectrometers.

Standard Shapes:
We supply sapphire discs and plates in circular or oval form, or as stepped glass. Rectangular and other shapes are also available.

Antireflective Coating:
Our sapphire windows are available with an antireflective coating to reduce reflection or to optimize transmission (Standard: 380 to 630 nm).

Metallic Coating:
Sapphire windows are prepared for soldering by the application of thin layers of nickel, copper, chrome and gold to the edges.

Sapphire lenses Sapphire lenses are used in situations where glass lenses do not meet requirements. Sapphire has outstanding characteristics:

  • extreme hardness and high scratch resistance
  • chemical stability and inertness
  • extreme thermal stability
  • outstanding transmission between 200 and 5000 nm

Our advanced grinding and polishing techniques enable us to produce concave lenses of outstanding quality.

Applications:

  • medical technology, in particular, endoscopy
  • sensor systems, particularly high temperature probes and IR transmission

Products

  • concave sapphire lenses
  • convex sapphire lenses

Antireflective Coating:
Our sapphire lenses are available with an antireflective coating to reduce reflection or to optimize transmission (Standard: 380 to 630 nm).

Metallic Coating:
The application of thin layers of nickel, copper, chrome and gold to the edge of sapphire lenses prepares them for soldering and creates a hermetic seal.
