Apprenticeships

BIEG offers apprenticeships for lathe operators and industrial mechanics

We offer experience in working with highly specialized, exciting technologies and a solid, diversified training. BIEG processes extremely hard materials of very small dimensions to high precision. We also produce turned micro-parts and complex milled parts. We deliver to clients throughout the world in many branches of industry and medical technology.

We use highly specialized machinery, much of which is designed and built by BIEG itself. We need qualified industrial mechanics for the construction and maintenance of this machinery.

In addition to processing hard materials, we also manufacture precision turned parts on high-quality CNC lathes. We need qualified  lathe operators for these machines.

Lathe operators learn

  • how to configure and operate drilling, turning and milling machinery, including selecting the tools
  • how to design programs for digitally operated machine tools
  • troubleshooting of malfunctioning
  • testing and correcting manufacturing processes
  • how to service and maintain tools and machinery
  • quality assurance, including choosing the inspection equipment
  • how to design and implement solutions of technical tasks
  • how to document projects and outcomes

Further information on vocational training is available from the Federal Institute for Vocational Training (Bundesinstitut für Berufsbildung - BIBB), at https://www.bibb.de/de/berufeinfo.php/profile/apprenticeship/782319

Industrial Mechanics learn

  • how to manufacture components for and assemble technical systems
  • how to set up and program equipment
  • quality assurance, involving measurement and testing with precision instruments
  • logging measurements
  • service and repair of machinery
  • installation and commissioning of electronically controlled systems
  • how to design and implement solutions of technical tasks
  • how to document projects and outcomes

Working as part of a team and communication with up- and downstream sections are important in both vocational paths.

Qualifications:
The successful completion of secondary schooling (Werkrealschule or Realschule), ideally complemented by the successful completion of a one-year technical college course in metal technology. The training period is 3.5 years.

Our apprentices should enjoy and be adept at working with very small precision parts.

Prospects:
Upon successful completion of their training, we are pleased to employ apprentices who perform  well, in

  • CNC-production
  • special machine construction
  • manufacturing

Further information about training or the opportunity to complete an apprenticeship with us, is available from our training officer.
